Since a large fraction of the m are consumed – quite inefficiently\, moreover – for transporting goods a nd people\, reaching these goals will require major transformations of thi s sector of activity.\n\nSo\, the Annual Trottier Symposium series will co ntribute to this mandatory energy transition by dedicating its fourth symp osium to the transport sector and the challenges it faces\, by exploring a number of possible futures\, knowing that many upcoming technologies make a transition to a low-carbon society more likely each day.\n\nTechnology alone will not be enough\, however. But introduction of new\, disruptive t echnologies is the occasion to re-evaluate our portfolio of transit tools. And if by the same occasion we revisit the goals of transportation\, urba n design\, and the public and private vision\, not only can we obtain envi ronmental benefits\, but also economic and social ones.\n\nA successful tr ansition will be more likely if we first ask ourselves the right questions . Ours is: “What’s fuelling the transition?” What will be yours?\n\n\nAbou t the Trottier Symposium on Sustainable Engineering\, Energy and Design \n \nEach year the Trottier Institute for Sustainability in Engineering and D esign (TISED) at ɫTV and the Institut de l’énergie Trottier (IET) at Polytechnique Montréal take turns hosting this event. Made possib le through the generous support of Dr. Lorne Trottier\, this is a forum fo r students\, professors\, government and industry professionals to connect with the general public on advancements for sustainability through engine ering and design. The First Annual Symposium was hosted by ɫTVl Universi ty in 2014 on Sustainable Cities and Industries and the Second Annual Symp osium was hosted by Polytechnique Montréal in 2015 on Energy in Quebec and Canada: A Conversation Starter and the Third Annual Symposium was once ag ain hosted by ɫTV in 2016 on Renewable Energy: What holds us back? What moves us forward?”\n\nThe Annual Symposium focuses attention o n energy usage and the relevance of sustainable engineering and design to peoples’ lives. This series has been made possible by the generous gift fr om the Lorne Trottier Family Foundation.\n DTSTART;VALUE=DATE:20170411 DTEND;VALUE=DATE:20170412 LOCATION:CA\, Amphithéâtre Bell (Room: C-631) at Polytechnique Montreal SUMMARY:Fourth Annual Trottier Symposium on Sustainable Engineering\, Energ y and Design URL:/tised/channels/event/fourth-annual-trottier-sympo sium-sustainable-engineering-energy-and-design-262912 END:VEVENT END:VCALENDAR
