Speak ers will include distinguished leaders and rising stars\, with the goal of bridging basic research and clinical perspectives.\n\n\nTo attend in pers on\, register here\n\nTo watch via vimeo\, click here\n\n\nSpeaker: Mary P at McAndrews\, Ph.D.\, C.Psych.\n Division Head\, Clinical & Computational Neuroscience\, Krembil Research Institute\, UHN\n Senior Scientist and Chai r\, Trainees Affairs Committee\, Krembil Research Institute\, UHN\n Researc h Operations Director\, Slaight Family Centre for Advanced MRI\, UHN\n Prof essor of Psychology\, University of Toronto\n\nAbstract: There have been d ecades of research illuminating the various ways in which memory is impact ed in individuals with temporal lobe epilepsy (TLE)\, much of it focusing on medial temporal lobe damage and dysfunction. However\, encoding and ret rieving information in the clinic and in everyday situations clearly depen ds on a network of brain regions and their interactions\, including but no t exclusive to hippocampal processes and representations. Our lab has been using functional MRI\, and particularly measures of functional connectivi ty\, to examine the relationship between brain connectivity and memory int egrity in individuals with TLE. I will discuss three lines of our research on this topic: (1) how connectivity is altered when retrieving memories f rom one’s personal past\; (2) how intrinsic connectivity between hippocamp us and neocortex relates to memory consolidation\; (3) how divergence from normative connectivity relates to current memory performance and can be u sed to predict memory outcomes following temporal lobe resection. The evid ence suggests that network dysfunction is the appropriate level to investi gate the variety of memory deficits that emerge in patients with temporal lobe epilepsy. \n DTSTART:20240215T210000Z DTEND:20240215T220000Z LOCATION:de Grandpre Communications Centre\, Montreal Neurological Institut e\, CA\, QC\, Montreal\, H3A 2B4\, 3801 rue University SUMMARY:NEURO Epilepsy Lecture Series: Memory Networks in Temporal Lobe Epi lepsy URL:/neuro/channels/event/neuro-epilepsy-lecture-serie s-memory-networks-temporal-lobe-epilepsy-353596 END:VEVENT END:VCALENDAR
