Previous studies in statistical shape analysis have focused on analyzing X~X~ through discrete observations of  XX. While this approach has some computational advantages\, it overlooks t he continuous nature of variables: X~X~\, XX\, and it ignores the potentia l dependence of deformation variables on each other and X~X~\, which resul ts in a loss of information in the data structure. I will introduce a new framework for studying XX based on functional data analysis in this presen tation. Basis expansion techniques are employed to find analytic solutions for deformation variables such as rotation and parametrization deformatio ns. Then\, the generative model of XX is investigated using a joint-princi pal component analysis approach. Numerical experiments on synthetic and re al datasets demonstrate how this new approach performs better at analyzing random planar curves than traditional functional data methods.\n\nSpeaker \n\nIssam Moindjié obtained his PhD in Statistics in 2023 from the Univers ity of Lille\, France.
