 ellence in Book Design in Canada is the only national competition for top 
 achievements in book design and book production. The winning books are exh
 ibited in a travelling show hosted by Canadian libraries and cultural orga
 nisations across the country. They are exhibited at the Frankfurt Bookfair
  and the Leipzig Bookfair and entered in the Siftung Buchkunst’s internati
 onal book design competition 'Best Book Design from all over the World' he
 ld in Germany.\n\nThe first Alcuin book design competition was held in 198
 1. It encourages Canadian publishers to pay closer attention to material q
 ualities of book design in all of its aspects: from binding and paper qual
 ity to choice of type and illustration\, to excellence in printing. The Mc
 Gill Libraries are proud to partner with the Alcuin Society located in Van
 couver\, British Columbia\, with the goal of promoting a wider appreciatio

 ition itinérante présentée dans des bibliothèques et des organismes cultur
 els à travers le pays. Ils sont également exposés à la Foire du livre de F
 rancfort et à celle de Leipzig\, et soumis au concours international « Bes
 t Book Design from all over the World » organisé par la Stiftung Buchkunst
  en Allemagne.\n\nLe tout premier concours de design de livres de la Alcui
 n Society a eu lieu en 1981. Il vise à encourager les éditeurs canadiens à
  accorder une attention particulière aux qualités matérielles du livre sou
 s tous ses aspects : de la reliure et la qualité du papier au choix de la 
 typographie et des illustrations\, en passant par l’excellence de l’impres
 sion. Les Bibliothèques de ºÃÉ«TVl sont fières de s’associer à la Alcuin So
 ciety\, située à Vancouver en Colombie-Britannique\, afin de promouvoir un
 e plus grande appréciation des livres magnifiquement réalisés au Canada.\n
