��ɫTVl’s Visual Schedule Builder has a new look!

Visual Schedule Builder (VSB) is a tool that allows students to visually organize their courses into their weekly schedule before registering in Minerva.

The most important change? Classroom locations and class instructors’ information are now available when signed in. The new look will make course information and interface elements more noticeable.

Password reset for ��ɫTVl Username - Minerva reset password access ends March 26

As of March 26, 2025, you will no longer be able to reset your ��ɫTVl username password in Minerva. Password resets will be managed through a single, secure platform using Microsoft’s Self-Service Password Reset (SSPR) feature to enhance security and better protect your data.

Note: Password resets for Banner/Imaging/Data Warehouse will remain available in Minerva.

Microsoft 365 license deactivation warnings

IT Services recently migrated many Webex softphone users to Teams Phone.

As a result, users may have received a message from Microsoft stating their license will be deactivated soon. (See screenshot above.) It is a legitimate message from Microsoft.

All ��ɫTVl faculty and staff are assigned Microsoft 365 licenses that provide access to applications such as Teams, Outlook, OneDrive, Word, and Excel. As part of the recent migration, IT Services changed the type of Microsoft 365 license assigned to some users.

Do not use Read.AI for ��ɫTVl purposes

We have received reports of a Read.AI bot attending or attempting to attend online meetings organized by ��ɫTVl faculty and staff. The bot uses generative AI to create a text summarizing a meeting’s discussions and decisions; it then shares a link to that document with all participants.

��ɫTV must vet all IT solutions to ensure they safeguard data privacy and security. Read.AI has not been approved for teaching, research, or administrative activities at the University.

Changes to MCGILL ALERT! mobile device notifications

��ɫTVl’s Emergency Notification System allows you to opt in your mobile device to receive alerts during time-sensitive situations and disruptions in the use of various buildings on campus.

In the past, some mobile phone carriers only allowed voice messages, not SMS text messaging. Today, all carriers support SMS, so we will switch all Emergency Notification System messaging to SMS for mobile phones starting September 18.

If your personal mobile device is configured to use text-to-speech, SMS notifications from ��ɫTVl will be read aloud.
