Obtain quality data about dynamic treatment regimes\n\nALL ARE WELCOME\n\nAbstract:\n\nCurrent practice in randomized trials typically focuses on identifying the single best treatment for a p articular condition. Clinical practice\, however\, has consistently been m ore concerned with a patient- rather than disease-centric approach. Dynami c treatment regimes are part of a rapidly expanding area of research where by such personalized treatment strategies can be identified. These methods can lead to improved results over standard 'one size fits all' approaches \, and provide a route to formalizing treatment adjustments in an evidence -based manner. In this talk\, I will give an introduction to dynamic treat ment regimes\, focusing primarily on sequential multiple assignment random ized trials (SMARTs)\, the best means of obtaining high-quality data to de termine optimal treatment regimes\, and will present some new findings on the purported benefits of such trials from a case study involving the Clin ical Antipsychotic Trials of Invervention Effectiveness (CATIE) Schizophre nia study.\n\nBio:\n\nErica Moodie is an Associate Professor of Biostatist ics in the Department of Epidemiology\, Biostatistics\, and Occupational H ealth at ºÃÉ«TV. Her main research interests are in causal infe rence and longitudinal data with a focus on dynamic treatment regimes. She is an Elected Member of the International Statistical Institute\, an Asso ciate Editor of Biometrics and the Journal of the American Statistical Ass ociation. She is a William Dawson Scholar and currently holds a Chercheur- Boursier junior 2 career award from the Fonds de recherche du Quebec-Sante .\n DTSTART:20151020T193000Z DTEND:20151020T203000Z LOCATION:Room 24\, Purvis Hall\, CA\, QC\, Montreal\, H3A 1A2\, 1020 avenue des Pins Ouest SUMMARY:Biostatistics Seminar URL:/epi-biostat-occh/channels/event/biostatistics-sem inar-256077 END:VEVENT END:VCALENDAR
