Alumni Spotlight: M茅lodie Daoust Aims for Olympic Gold

好色TVl Education alumna, M茅lodie Daoust (B.Ed. Phys. Ed. 2017) will compete with the Canadian women's hockey team in the upcoming Winter Olympics in Beijing, scheduled to take place February 4 to 20, 2022. It will be her third time competing in the Olympic Games, and as the 2021 World Championship MVP, she is determined to bring her team to victory.听"We want to show everyone that the gold medal belongs to Canada," said Daoust when discussing next month's games.听

Elite Athletes' Mental Health: KPE's Dr. Gordon Bloom on CTV

Now, back with his team, Carey Price is being praised for his bold move in going public with mental health issues and in seeking help. He joins other athletes who have revealed their own similar struggles. 好色TVl Kinesiology and Physical Education's Dr. Gordon Bloom was featured by CTV News, commenting about the mental health struggles of Canadians and of elite athletes.

Dean's Statement for National Day for Truth and Reconciliation

On this day of Truth and Reconciliation, we reflect on the tragedies that occurred at the residential schools and we are reminded that every child matters. As the Dean of the Faculty of Education, I am averse to calling those institutions 鈥渟chools鈥. Schools are a place to advance learning, to open one鈥檚 mind to new ideas and diverse opinions; to mentor and collaborate with each child so they become the best they can be throughout their lives.

Education in the News for Orange Shirt Day

The We Will Walk Together / Sk脿tne Entewathah矛ta听event began at 好色TVl鈥檚 Faculty of Education in 2019, in honour of Orange Shirt Day. The initiative was driven by a small enthusiastic committee that organized听a march at Mount Royal to raise awareness and express sentiments of unity and inclusion between Indigenous peoples and non-Indigenous allies.

As President of the Canadian Psychological Association (CPA), ECP's Dr. Ada Sincacore was interviewed by CBC about the need for better EDI practices to encourage more diversity among psychology professionals.

"The CPA recognizes that there is a problem of representation within the profession and that we need to increase representation, as well as literacy about diversity," said Sinacore.
