The Faculty of Dental Medicine and Oral Health Sciences welcomes applications from First Nations, Inuit and M茅tis candidates. We have a specific application pathway for Indigenous candidates as well as reserved seats in our DMD program. We encourage you to self-identify in your application and to contact us if you have any questions about our programs or processes.

Requirements
- Have recognized Indigenous status:
- Be recognized as First Nations under the Indian Act (RSC, C1-5) or Inuit (registered in the Inuit client registry) and have confirmed status as a member of听a First Nations or Inuit community听or
- Be听registered to one of the M茅tis Registries recognized by the M茅tis National Council: M茅tis Nation of Ontario, M茅tis Nation of Alberta, Manitoba Metis Federation, M茅tis Nation British Columbia and M茅tis Nation 鈥� Saskatchewan.
- Declare your First Nations, Inuit or M茅tis status on your application form;
- Have a minimum CGPA of 3.2/4.0;
- Meet all other academic requirements for admission to the DMD program;
- Submit your application by November 1 and all supporting documents by November 3.

Selection Process
The application will be holistically reviewed by the Indigenous Admissions Advisory Committee based on the following:
- Standardized curriculum vitae (CV);
- Personal statement;
- CASPer results;
- Basic Science prerequisites.

The top ranked candidates will be invited to the Multiple Mini-Interviews (MMI) and an individual interview with members of the Indigenous Admissions Advisory Committee.
For candidates recommended by the Indigenous Admissions Advisory Committee after the interviews, offers will be made based on their MMI performance.
Please note that candidates in this pathway will also be considered for the general cohort seats based on their residency status (Quebec resident or Canadian citizen).
Required documentation
Candidates will be required to submit documentation to support their declaration of Indigenous ancestry. One of the following is considered acceptable:
- a certified copy of your Status card;
- a certified copy of your Metis membership card from one of the 5 recognized provincial organizations;
- your roll number or any other proof accepted by Inuit communities.

A 鈥渉ome away from home,鈥� First Peoples鈥� House offers a mentoring program, computer facilities, guest lectures, elder visits, academic counselling, and an ever-expanding resource centre as well as housing.

Award for Indigenous undergraduate students
