After compl eting a\ndoctorate at the University of Saint Andrews in Scotland he was a \nresearch fellow in Germany. In 1994 he was appointed to the History\nDep artment at St Andrews and he taught there for almost fifteen\nyears. In 20 08 he and his family moved to New Haven\, Connecticut\,\nas he took up the position of professor of Church History at Yale\nDivinity School. He is n ow the Titus Street Professor of\nEcclesiastical History and also teaches in the History Department\nat Yale.\nThe G. Campbell Wadsworth memorial Le cture series\, established\nin 1997 by the Estate of REv. Dr. G. Campbell Wadsworth\, focuses on\nthe life and works of John Calvin\, and is organiz ed on a bi-annual\nbasis. The first G. Campbell Wadsworth memorial Lecture was\npresented by Professor Alan J.
